Hello people reading this post! I've talked about how I was working on a RPG called "Striving Perfection" but I decided to put the project on hold and make something else. This doesn't mean I'll stop working on it!


So basically my newest game project is "Egoradise." Yeah, legit!- you should see my twitter, I post updates of it time to time. I'll explain the game and the story and show some art!!!

The game is a rougelike ("Another one??" Yeah, because I want to make one again) and I'm trying to make more engaging gameplay than my last two. The biggest problem from those two was how stupidly long and boring the levels took, I want to make levels where you do more than just killing. One idea I have is having to collect scraps in order to finish the level. Pepper is the main protagonist who you control and has basic movement and shooting. Although this time I decided to make the deuteragonist actually help out once again! Gary is Pepper's roommate and close friend, and he helps her out by punching and using other means necessary to kill the enemies. I plan to add a separate shop specifically for Gary so he can get some items alongside Pepper.


But who are Gary and Pepper actually? And why the fuck are they doing this shit in the first place? Well it's another third party entity who decided to change up their lives! TSUKIKO!! The cutie chaotic deity who forced them to do this shit.

As for Pepper and Gary.. Pepper and Gary and roommates who are close friends, although both of them has fallen into a sort of depression after a certain event changed their entire lives.


Pepper is an artist who doesn't like her old artworks and occasionally tries to get back into art again.. but always fails. If you compare her to her time in college to now, you can tell there's a big fat difference. She's jobless and just sleeps, eats, and plays games with Gary in their apartment room. Short-tempered and filled with misery, she wants to go back to the past and experience happiness again.


Gary is a programmer and is currently working as waiter in a masked themed cafeteria. His co-workers don't know why he specifically wears his own mask during work when there are many options to choose from. Pepper is the only one who knows why. He's extremely rapturous and tries to exaggerate himself sometimes.. mostly because to make him feel less remorseful.

It's been a while since I did sum post updates on the game because I was working on another game: Painstaking Deliveries!



It was a fun game dev experience working in 3D although I don't have the confidence to make another game like that for some time.


Now for Striving Perfection, I am planning to work on it more right now. The main plan is to implement a leveling system (At first I didn't want to make one but I realized "what's an rpg without leveling up?"), second party member, new enemies, animation work with the dialogue, and more characters to interact with


There won't be any more party members after Olivia so I can focus more on the interactions with the two main characters. Olivia is basically a girl failure trying her best and getting used to her newfound powers


There's gonna be lots of more big and minor characters in the game and im trying to lessen the scope of it so I can release it soonish this year. I'm thinking maybe around late Nov-Dec. but only time will tell!

Ooh boy it's summer break now for me and it's a great time to work on a game without worrying about homework!


Striving Perfection progress is growing slowly but surely! Right now I'm making the levels, NPC's, and (maybe) funny dialog. I have four other main things I've been thinking to add for the game which are story, a possible second party member, new enemies, and attractive and vibrant environments


STORY TALK

The story is pretty simple although I need to make it at least enjoyable somewhat. It's the classic defeat the big bad of the game to achieve your goal and nothing much else.


SECOND PARTY MEMBER?

I've been thinking of adding another party member to the game and I might be able to add it, I mean, I made the battle system kinda compatible with more party members so maybe it'll work out. Who will be the second party member? Well no other than:


OLIVIA KAMBER!! Bright and sassy, she is a magical girl who has been training for 3 months in order to save the world from threats (In this case, saving her local town from potatoes with knifes)

ENVIRONMENT STUFF

The first environment is the basic green grass with houses roads and such, filled with bushes and mostly friendly faces. Some future environment ideas I have in mind are a mall/store area, a beach area, dungeon, uhh.. Maybe I'll be able to think about it more clearly later on

Another day to talk about some game progress and other stuff I want to talk about!


Development is going pretty well! I'm currently working on the battle system with the attacks and enemies and it's like 65% finished, then maybe I can work on adding quirky and weird NPCs. Wanna see a snippet of how the battle system looks right now? Well you can't because it's locked away in a secret fault..

One new great feature that I have added is using a scroll container for the options! It's going to work extremely well if I want more things that can't fit the boxes, like items!! And it was actually easy to implement too!


STORY IDEA:

For the story, I want to make it simple: Try to eat a taco!! Tacos are hard to come by in this world and it's Jack's favorite food!! Gotta get it and eat it!!!!!!!

I've been making game projects left and right and unfortunately my main laptop isn't working as well as before and it had to be repaired causing all the files to go poof, and I didn't save them into a USB or other file sharing stuff.


So yeah unfortunate that most of my files from my older games are gone, but that won't stop me from creating more games! Like a completely weird and dumb RPG featuring Jack Yuri on his adventure for something with Mario & Luigi like combat


This is the guy, Jack! He even got frontpaged on the bottom right corner!


Some other characters I plan to add are a tutorial cactus named Kippy, a straightforward artist who's just trying to live out her craft while surviving on canned spam and rice, and others like maybe Hatsune Miku

Phew! Finally finished Unprofessional Mischief! Easily one of the longest games I've worked on without switching back and forth between other game projects. I think it was 2-3 months. The general reception was great and maybe it's fine the way it is already.

The game!*!


I've experienced the post burnout effect but got over it 1-2 days ago. I'm thinking of remaking Riley's Rampage again for the third time. It's been 6 months since I conceived the idea of it and had an on and off relation to it unfortunately. I've made 5 games before I actually got to finish it. I think it's because I feel like the game won't be good enough for everyone. 3D is an awesome dimension to work with but can be an extremely big fat pain the ass sometimes.


But now that Florbert Engine has gotten a new update on overhauling some 3D elements I might be able to actually finish Riley's Rampage, with the right motivation.

The salesman your average humble laid-back salesman who died after contracting a lethal illness and deciding to spend his last years enjoying life.


He now lives a purgatory in a train with his Tea Guardian Angel, having some sort of father and daughter relationship. She asks him to try out some food shown in one of the movies they have on TV. The Salesman didn't want to go out in the heat but after she threatened him that she'll have an emo boyfriend, he obliges.

I'm currently making a 3D platformer, or maybe just trying out 3D platformer stuff.

It's called "Droplet Farming" and it's loosely based on my old as hell test project, "Droplets". It's gonna be a collectathon type of platformer doing tasks and such

You play as a farmer named Kentucky where she barks on her adventure finding fertilizer or something like that haha! So far you can double jump, dash, and collect veggies (so far it's just a turnip, although I may plan more vegetables with different mechanics sooner or later)


Hopefully I'll be able to finish this in late January or early February!

Time flies a lot!! I remember uploading my first ever works to this site way back in June last year!


I think I'll just recap my games, art, and other stuff I did throughout 2022


2022 Games:


Ring Ring Bang 2:



First game of 2022 and made for pixel day 2022! I was trying to make a pixel day game during January and tried to make a 2D collect-a-thon platformer where you collect NG mascot dolls, but the gameplay was SO fucking boring!! I decided to make a sequel, more so a remake, to my first game published in this site: Ring Ring Bang! It was fun to work on and it was great revisiting my older games. It's also one where I was more ambitious with the touchscreen controls. A lot more people played it than I thought it would! The only downside to this game is that I realized people will get really pissy if something doesn't work properly, and yeah I would get pissed too. Focusing on the window and optimization were the main problems and I hope I'll be able to fix those issues in future games

My highest rated game and also the one where I spent the most time working on! I'm still proud of this game and it's also where I started working with Demi and Peti. TONS of people liked it, which I'm extremely happy about!! One funny thing I can share is that I accidentally published it too early on March and I had to quickly unpublish it. That's why you can see the upload date is Mar 29 and not in April! I think I could've gotten daily 1st too but oh well haha. I might make a remake to this game sometime in the future cause I want to expand on the gameplay, setting, and story!


PICO PIZZA FRENZY:



A beat em' up made for Pico Day!! I was late for it but what matters is that I was able to contribute something! I got the idea for this game from my Tankman Pizza drawing and thought "Pizza Beat em' up". Demi was a bit late with the music due to him fishing so I had to get a midi file of the Spider-man 2: The Game pizza theme and used it for the entire game.

This was second daily 1st game and one where I first tried a new NG API which I still use today. Nothing much to say other than this game made me learn about autoload signals which was neat!


VIZZY & THE LOST CAT:



Probably my favorite game I made in 2022!! Made for the MGJ hosted by Stepford! I had to join the jam cause I've made touchscreen controls on my games before and also because mobile users want to have some gaming action too right? I had a bit hard time trying to find a theme with "Lots of", and ultimately I said fuck it and just went with "Lots of Money." This is the first game I worked with Marvazoid and they did such a fantastic job on the thumbnail and BG! Two main inspirations for this were Gravity Shift and Micro Mages. This game has the most medals out of all of my games here. In the end this game won 4th place for the MGJ, Yippee!!! I held a twitter tournament where people decide who is my best game protagonist and Vizzy won! She also got the most fanarts haha. TRANS RIGHTS BTW!


COCA & THEIR SHOTGUN:



This game is the culmination of my brain giving out the shittiest ideas. I wanted to try adding a jumping mechanic to my game and I think I did an okay job. This game uses a lot of images taken from the internet like: Saul Goodman, Tom Fulp, and Lucky Star ft. Jerma. Most of these get pixelized with the use of a website called Pix-Brix

Like the description said, it's a short silly bullet hell game, and I'm happy with that.


Pumpkin Wing:



This game is made by Frosty, so I can't really say much other than I made a medal icon for it (The one you get when you die).

MINIMUM MAGE EFFORT:



It's spooky time, that means cafe time! My wackiest game of mine and the one with more character interaction! I really wanted to give this game a "feel good" feeling, but the frantic and chaotic gameplay really outweighed that haha! I was a bit late to this one but it still got in Halloween 2022. The Gacha mechanic was a fun thing to work on and I enjoyed drawing all the collectable dolls. I got to work with other musicians this time around due to Demi leaving NG. I gotta give a shoutout to Gavmcool and JOnline for composing some songs for the game, they did a wonderful job! I played a lot of management games before and I'm very happy to actually make one! This game got 4th place in Halloween Spooktacular 2022 games and also 3rd best game of the month, woohoo!! Some more facts about the game: Aka is designed after Koishi Komeiji. That's one of the main reasons why the game is called Minimum Mage Effort..... and also because the "W" in Wage flipped is "M" haha. Ultimately, I should've just called it Minimum Maid Effort cause Aka sports a maid uniform and she's the one who serves customers.


COCA & THEIR SHOTGUN II:



You kill FNF Fans.. What more could you want!! Made for the 3-Star Jam. Unfortunately I put too much effort into the game and it got a 3.5 Star rating. Oops!

I'm currently working on another sequel to Coca & Their Shotgun for Peter the Ant Day 2022 so make sure to look out for that! It's probably the last game I'll make before 2023 rolls around so yeah

Other projects I've left on hold are:

  • Strained Out Fiesta (Mario & Luigi Inspired RPG)
  • Riley's Rampage (Boomer Shooter Inspired FPS)

Dunno if I'll be able to finish those two but who knows!
